The company has qualified all
the package
technologies for Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS)
compliance in accordance with the
European Directive 2002/95/EC - ahead of the EU legislated
deadline of 2006.
The RoHS directive bans the following substances:
- Lead and its compounds
- Mercury and its compounds
- Cadmium or cadmium compounds
- Hexavalent Chromium and its compounds
- PBB (polybromobiphenyl)
- PBDE (polybrominated diphenyl ethers)
In addition to these substances, SST's non-Pb
(lead-free) parts also do not contain the following substances:
- Chlorinated paraffins (chlorine flame
retarding materials/plasticizers)
- Polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) category
- Polychlorinated naphthalene category
- Organic tin compounds (Tributhyl tin
category/Triphenyl tin category)
- Asbestos
- Azo compounds
- CFCs or other Class 1 Ozone Depleting
